On 6 and 7 June 2026, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering delivered a BIM Management – BIM Manager course for staff and engineers of the Bac Ninh Construction Planning Centre and the Bac Ninh Construction Quality Inspection and Economics Centre. The 16-hour course was taught in person in Bac Giang Ward, Bac Ninh Province.
The two participating centres handle key stages of construction activity in the province: preparing plans, inspecting construction quality and advising on construction economics. As project documentation is increasingly prepared on BIM platforms, their staff need to understand information management and how to read and assess models in order to check and appraise the documents prepared by consultants and contractors.

Training programme content
The programme followed the syllabus of the Institute's BIM Manager course, arranged into two intensive days.
Day one – theory and information management
- BIM overview, terminology and uses; the parties involved; benefits and challenges for organisations; BIM environments, platforms and tools.
- Legal documents, standards and guidance for BIM in Vietnam; preparing a BIM execution plan for a project.
- The common data environment (CDE) on Autodesk Construction Cloud (Docs, Build): storage, member management, submission and approval of 3D models and 2D drawings, RFIs and construction progress, reporting; viewing models in Autodesk Viewer and Drive.
- Level of development (LOD) requirements; assessing architectural, structural, MEP, plumbing and fire protection models; checking drawings and quantities in BIM.
Day two – hands-on model organisation and coordination
- Checking how files are split: the overall file, files for each building block and each discipline; team working with worksets.
- Checking survey coordinates and true north; checking naming and colour conventions.
- The clash matrix, the 3D coordination process, building the coordination model, managing Search Sets, detecting and resolving clashes and exporting reports.
Linking the content to each centre's work
Lecturers used examples matched to the functions of the two centres. For planning work, participants looked at how existing conditions, terrain and the site plan are modelled in Revit, and why survey coordinates and elevations matter when checking a building's position on its site. For inspection and construction economics, the focus was on checking drawings and quantities produced from the model, including comparing the structural drawing symbols set up in Revit with the applicable drafting rules.
The Institute sincerely thanks the Bac Ninh Construction Planning Centre and the Bac Ninh Construction Quality Inspection and Economics Centre for choosing it as their training partner.
