On 27 and 28 June 2026, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering delivered a BIM Management – BIM Manager course for engineers of Power Engineering Consulting JSC 4 (PECC4). The 16-hour course was taught in person at the company.
As a design consultant for energy projects, PECC4 works on projects with large document sets and many coordinating disciplines. The course aimed to build a team able to plan BIM, set up processes and a common data environment, and control the quality of each discipline's model before documents are issued.

Training programme content
The programme was based on the Institute's BIM Manager course and comprised two parts.
Part 1 – Introduction
- BIM overview.
- Standards and guidance for BIM implementation in Vietnam.
Part 2 – Managing the building information model
- Overview of the BIM execution plan for a project.
- Selecting appropriate BIM uses.
- The roles of BIM staff on a project.
- Developing detailed BIM processes.
- Setting up the common data environment (CDE): Autodesk Construction Cloud (Docs, Build) for project data; Autodesk Viewer and Drive for storing and navigating models.
- Specific model requirements: checking architectural, structural, MEP, plumbing and fire protection models; checking drawings and quantities in BIM.
- Organising the BIM model: checking how project files are split, the coordinate system and project orientation, and naming and colour conventions.
- 3D coordination using Navisworks Manage to manage clashes and design errors.
From CAD habits to a BIM process
Lecturers made a point of linking BIM content to the design team's familiar ways of working. In the model organisation session, the principle of splitting and linking files across disciplines was compared with how engineers already use Xref in AutoCAD to reference drawings, including the path errors that occur when source files are renamed or moved. In the coordination session, participants looked at exchanging models between different software through open formats, including how to export IFC from Revit correctly, before federating models in Navisworks Manage to detect clashes.
The Institute sincerely thanks Power Engineering Consulting JSC 4 (PECC4) for choosing it as its training partner.
