From 7 April to 26 May 2026, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering delivered a Revit Architecture course for architects and design engineers of CDC (Công ty Cổ phần Tư vấn Đầu tư và Thiết kế Xây dựng Việt Nam). The 36-hour course was taught in person at the company, Area 2B, Van Ho Exhibition, Hanoi.

The class was held in the company's own workspace: participants practised on the workstations they use every day, with lecturers guiding them at their desks. This allowed participants to apply what they learned to live projects without switching working environments.

Training programme content

The syllabus was based on the Institute's Revit Architecture course, extended to 36 hours to add detailed documentation. It comprised five parts:

Part 1 – Basic setup

BIM and Revit concepts; file paths and the interface; coordinate system and project orientation; grids, levels and keyboard shortcuts.

Part 2 – Structural and architectural modelling

  • Structural columns, beams, floors and foundations from the standard library, with key properties.
  • Walls of three kinds – Basic Wall, Curtain Wall and Stacked Wall – and their key properties.
  • Placing doors and windows in Revit from the library, adjusting size and position.
  • Visibility management, model navigation and common hide/isolate commands.
  • Architectural floors and ceilings; simple to complex sloped roofs; stairs and railings; site terrain.

Part 3 – Family library

Massing tools and parameter rules following the sequence for creating a Revit family; hands-on families for furniture, architectural columns, doors, windows, mouldings and 2D families for documentation.

Part 4 – Design documentation

Materials, line weights and the Project Browser; rooms; detailed plans, elevations and sections; toilet, stair and door details; drafting views and legends for floor build-ups and general notes.

Part 5 – Schedules, title blocks and visualisation

Schedules of doors, rooms, masonry walls, floor tiles and the drawing list; title blocks; printing; managing project templates; exporting PDF and DWG; and rendering.

Training methodology

The course was spread over nearly two months. Every theory topic was paired with practice on a building model, following the sequence in which an architectural drawing set is produced: from the model and detailed drawings to schedules and a standard title block.

The Institute sincerely thanks CDC for choosing it as its training partner.

Organisations wishing to arrange Revit Architecture training for their design teams are kindly invited to contact the Institute on +84 989 427 809 or +84 914 388 841.
