From 15 August to 10 October 2025, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering delivered a Revit Structure course for engineers of Ecoba Vietnam JSC. The 30-hour course was held at the company.
As a construction company, Ecoba Vietnam aims to standardise structural modelling and documentation on a BIM platform. The course was designed so that participants could master the full sequence of building a reinforced concrete structural model in Revit, from the grid system to a complete drawing set.

Training programme content
The programme followed the syllabus of the Institute's Revit Structure course and was divided into three stages:
Stage 1 – Modelling the concrete structure
- The Revit interface, BIM concepts and level of development (LOD).
- Setting up grids, levels and structural plans.
- Modelling foundations, columns, beams, walls and floors, including common cases when creating floors in Revit such as sloped floors, dropped slabs and slab openings.
- Setting materials, managing visibility and checking joins between elements.
Stage 2 – Families, reinforcement and schedules
- Creating families for pad footings, strip footings, pile caps, variable-section columns and 2D symbols.
- Setting concrete cover and rebar parameters; placing reinforcement in beams, columns, foundations, slabs and stairs.
- Producing concrete quantity schedules and rebar schedules by element.
Stage 3 – Documentation and coordination
- Title blocks and sheets; printing and exporting to PDF, DWG and IFC.
- Team working with worksets, central and local files.
- An introduction to the analytical model in Revit — the model Revit creates alongside the physical model, used to check node connections and exchange data with structural analysis software.
Training methodology
The course was spread over nearly two months, allowing participants to apply what they learned directly to their work at the company. Every topic was paired with hands-on practice on a multi-storey building model, with participants building the model and completing the drawing set under the lecturer's direct guidance.
The Institute sincerely thanks Ecoba Vietnam JSC for choosing it as its training partner.
