On 20 June 2026, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering delivered a Transport Infrastructure BIM module for staff and engineers of the Bac Ninh Construction Planning Centre and the Bac Ninh Construction Quality Inspection and Economics Centre. The 8-hour module was taught in person in Bac Giang Ward, Bac Ninh Province.

The module followed on from the BIM Management course the Institute delivered for the two centres on 6–7 June 2026. Having learned the general BIM management process, participants now covered what is specific to BIM models of transport works — the type of documentation the two centres regularly receive in planning, inspection and cost appraisal.

Duration8 hours

Module content

The content was drawn from the Institute's BIM Manager course for infrastructure and focused on issues specific to transport works:

  • BIM for linear works: how transport models differ from building models; BIM uses across the stages of a transport project.
  • Terrain base data: the role of survey data, contour lines and terrain surfaces in building and checking a road model.
  • Organising models by work item: splitting road, bridge, drainage and lighting models; choosing the right software for each item, for example when bridge structures can be modelled in Revit for bridges and when Civil 3D or InfraWorks is needed.
  • Model requirements and checking: level of development (LOD) for roads; agreeing the project coordinate system; federating models and checking clashes between work items.

Training methodology

The module was delivered as one intensive day, combining presentations with demonstrations on a transport model. With the foundation from the earlier BIM Management course, participants moved quickly into the specialist content and spent more time discussing real situations in the province's transport project documents.

The Institute sincerely thanks the Bac Ninh Construction Planning Centre and the Bac Ninh Construction Quality Inspection and Economics Centre for again choosing it as their training partner.

Agencies and organisations wishing to arrange a module or course in transport infrastructure BIM are kindly invited to contact the Institute on +84 989 427 809 or +84 914 388 841.
