From 6 to 18 May 2025, the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering (IIC) – Hanoi University of Civil Engineering ran a BIM Management – BIM Manager course for GIZA Vietnam Design and Construction JSC. The 16-hour course was delivered to the company's engineers and project management staff.
The aim was to give GIZA people who plan BIM, organise project data and control the quality of every discipline's model, rather than leaving each design team to run BIM its own way.

Syllabus
1. Introduction
- BIM overview: concepts, benefits and the main uses of BIM on a construction project.
- BIM standards and implementation guidance in Vietnam, together with the BIM requirements set out in the construction decrees currently in force.
2. Managing the building information model
The core of the course, following the order in which a BIM manager sets BIM up on a project.
- BIM execution planning. An overview of the project BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
- Choosing BIM uses. Selecting the BIM applications that fit each project's scale and requirements.
- BIM roles. Splitting responsibilities between the BIM manager, BIM coordinator and modellers.
- Detailed BIM workflows. Setting up the processes for exchanging, checking and approving models.
- Common Data Environment. Building a Common Data Environment (CDE): Autodesk Construction Cloud (Docs, Build) for project data management, and Autodesk Viewer and Drive for storing and navigating models.
3. Model requirements and checking
- Checking the architectural model.
- Checking the structural model.
- Checking the MEP, plumbing and fire protection models.
- Checking drawings and quantities produced from the model.
4. Organising the BIM model
- Checking how project files are split.
- Checking coordinates and project orientation across models.
- Checking naming and colour conventions.
5. 3D coordination
- Using Navisworks Manage to manage clashes and catch design errors between disciplines before work reaches site. Participants saw what Navisworks is used for in a real coordination workflow, not just as a model viewer.
Hands-on, tied to the company's work
Every participant had a workstation throughout, so the lecturer's explanations went straight into work on models and on Autodesk Construction Cloud. Model-checking topics were illustrated with errors that commonly appear in design and construction documents, exactly the kind of work the GIZA team handles every day.
The Institute thanks GIZA Vietnam Design and Construction JSC for choosing it as a training partner.
GIZA's 16-hour course shows the programme can be condensed to fit a company's available time. Call +84 989 427 809 or +84 914 388 841 and the Institute will propose a suitable length and content.
