Training programme content

The programme was based on the syllabus of the Institute's Revit Architecture course and covered the following main areas:

  • BIM and Revit Architecture overview. The building information model concept, the place of Revit Architecture in the BIM process, the interface and initial project settings.
  • Grids, levels and basic architectural elements. Grids, floor levels, walls and their material layers, doors and windows.
  • Architectural and structural elements of the building. Beams, columns, floors, entrance steps, ceilings, roofs, railings and stairs.
  • Massing techniques and families. Basic massing tools and building an architectural family library, including furniture, decorative columns, doors and windows.
  • Advanced architectural elements. Stacked walls, mouldings, curtain walls and roofs with complex forms.
  • Information management and presentation. Quantity schedules, room areas, callout details, title blocks, rendered perspectives, printing and issuing complete drawings, including exporting Revit drawings to CAD for exchange with other parties.

Training methodology

Topics were taught in the order in which an architectural document set is produced, from project setup and modelling to plans, elevations, sections and details. All drawings are extracted from a single model, so participants learn the principle of consistent information management that underpins BIM and can apply it to the Centre's projects.

The Institute sincerely thanks the Architectural Consultancy and Construction Investment Centre for choosing it as its training partner.

Design consultancies wishing to organise Revit training for their architects and engineers are kindly invited to contact the Institute on +84 989 427 809 or +84 914 388 841.
