FIELD OF WORK

Technical infrastructure BIM

A BIM specialist in technical infrastructure: bridges, roads, seaports and water-control structures.

  • Leads the technical infrastructure BIM Manager course at the Institute.
  • BIM manager on large infrastructure projects, from urban ring roads to seaports, water treatment plants and salinity-control systems.
  • Supporting member of the National BIM Steering Committee and a contributor to the national BIM Guidelines.
  • Project and lead designer on many bridges, including cable-stayed, extradosed and arch bridges. Holds a Class I bridge design certificate.
  • Visiting lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering since 2021, supervising BIM-based graduation theses. Two of them won the national Loa Thanh award.

SELECTED PROJECTS

Six projects run as BIM manager

Each is a different class of structure, so the modelling approach and level of detail differ from one to the next.

Ring Road 3, Ho Chi Minh City

BIM model at construction-drawing stage, LOD 350 and 400. Included 3D design coordination, quantity take-off, project management through BIM, and BIM–GIS integration.

Vo Viet Nghe Tinh Road eastern extension

BIM model at construction-drawing stage, LOD 300 and 350, with 3D design coordination, quantity take-off, plus training and handover to the client.

Song Len irrigation system (KEXIM funded)

BIM package for the Song Len headworks dam and the salinity barriers on De canal and Can river — Class II structures. Client: the Central Project Office for water resources.

Vinh Phuc water and flood management

World Bank funded. Building information models for three pumping stations: Kim Xa, Ngu Kien and Nguyet Duc.

Nghi Son port, Nghi Son 2 thermal power plant

Building information model for the coal receiving berth, 18,000 tonne vessels, 190 metres of quay.

Cua Dai bridge, Quang Ngai

A BIM pilot project. BIM coordination for the construction-drawing and method-statement models, with 4D schedule simulation.

  • BIM trainer certificate — Queen’s University Belfast with the National University of Civil Engineering, 2018.
  • BIM for trainers certificate — British Embassy Hanoi with the Construction Economics Institute, 2019.
  • Tekla Structures certificate from Trimble, plus a BIM management course certificate on LinkedIn.

  • Doan Hung bridge, Phu Tho province — Super-T girders
