ROLE AT THE INSTITUTE

Teaching Tekla from the designer’s side

A Tekla model is only trustworthy when it reflects the analysis behind it. He moved from structural analysis into modelling, so he teaches the two as one sequence.

  • Teaches the Tekla Structures course at the Institute — building on three-plus years running Tekla and steel design classes.
  • Over 10 years designing pre-engineered buildings — from technical drawings and structural analysis to Tekla models, shop drawings, cladding and accessories.
  • All three rungs of the design ladder — engineer at SEICO, head of design at HANALIFE GROUP, design lead at NSN.
  • Analysis in SAP2000 and ETABS before modelling — so the Tekla model is checked against design results, not just its shape.

CAREER

Three rungs of the steel design ladder

Engineer, head of design, then design lead — each rung adds a layer of responsibility for the structural package.

Design engineer — SEICO

Five years at steel building and industrial equipment company SEICO: starting with technical drawings and structural analysis, then in charge of Tekla modelling and shop drawings.

Head of steel design — HANALIFE GROUP

Structural analysis, preliminary and technical design, cladding and accessories, Tekla models and shop drawings; managing and distributing the work of the design team.

Design lead and teaching — NSN

Design lead at construction and industry company NSN, modelling in Tekla and Revit; running Tekla training classes since 2022. Signature projects: PT Hai Phong, LOTTLE Binh Duong, POWERWAY Bac Giang, BW Hai Phong.

WHAT HE TEACHES

The parts he goes deepest on

  • From analysis results to the model — building Tekla models that follow the design computed in SAP2000 and ETABS, not intuition.
  • Tekla models and steel shop drawings — the workflow from five years at SEICO: model, then fabrication drawings for the factory.
  • Cladding and accessories — the envelope of a pre-engineered building, work he did directly as head of design.
  • Reviewing models with a lead’s eye — checking the whole team’s models and drawings before the package is issued.

TOOLS

Software he works in

  • Tekla Structures — his core tool: steel models and shop drawings.
  • SAP2000 and ETABS — structural analysis ahead of detailing.
  • Revit — structural models on BIM-process projects.
  • AutoCAD — 2D technical drawings.

EDUCATION

Education and expertise

A civil engineering graduate of Hanoi University of Civil Engineering itself, trained up inside pre-engineered steel companies.

  • Engineering degree in Civil Engineering — Hanoi University of Civil Engineering
  • Grade II certificate in construction design; grade III certificates in supervision and survey
  • Over three years of teaching Tekla and steel design classes for practising engineers

Learn Tekla from a designer who leads the structural package

Analyse, design, then model — Tekla in the trade’s real order.
