About this course

On a BIM project team, the BIM Coordinator is the link between the BIM Manager and the people actually building the models. The coordinator checks each discipline model, chairs regular coordination meetings, and logs and follows issues until they are properly closed. Without this role, conflicts between architecture, structure and MEP tend to surface only once construction has started.

This six-session course, taught in the classroom by the RDSIC training centre of the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering — Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), is built around practice: managing data on Autodesk Construction Cloud, assembling a coordination model, running clash checks and reporting to stakeholders. You finish with a skill set ready for a coordination role on a live project.

What you will learn

  • Understand the overall BIM workflow and where the coordinator sits in it
  • Contribute to the BIM Execution Plan and keep modelling work aligned with it
  • Manage project data on Autodesk Construction Cloud: members, submissions, approvals
  • Track RFIs and site progress and export reports for coordination meetings
  • Assemble a coordination model, manage Search Sets and run clash checks
  • Produce clash reports, assign fixes and follow issues through to closure

Who should enrol

  • Modelling engineers and architects moving up to a coordination role
  • BIM team members at contractors and consultancies who check cross-discipline models
  • Technical staff preparing to chair regular BIM coordination meetings
  • Project managers who need to understand coordination and clash workflows
