About this course
With Vietnam's roadmap for mandatory BIM adoption on publicly funded projects in force under Decision 258/QD-TTg, Revit skills have become essential equipment for engineers and architects. This overview presents the six Revit learning paths taught at the RDSIC training centre of the Institute of Information Technology in Civil Engineering — Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), helping you pick the course that fits your discipline and career goals.
The six paths span the three core design disciplines — architecture, structure and MEP — plus specialist skills: building family libraries, programming the Revit API and applying Revit on the construction site. Each instructor teaches a single subject in depth, weaving discipline knowledge and project experience into every lesson rather than stopping at software commands.
What you will learn
- Identify the right Revit path for your discipline: architecture, structure or MEP.
- Understand the BIM workflow and cross-discipline model coordination to control clashes.
- Model in 3D and produce 2D drawing sets and quantity schedules straight from the model.
- Know how to build a standard family library for long-term company use.
- See the advanced routes: automating Revit through its API and using models for construction methods.
- Collaborate on a shared model through Revit worksharing.
Who should enrol
- Architects, structural engineers and MEP engineers moving to a BIM-based design workflow.
- Site engineers who need models for construction methods and quantity control.
- BIM specialists and anyone developing advanced skills such as families or the Revit API.
- Construction and architecture students preparing for their first job.
Detailed syllabus
1. Revit Architecture — architectural design
- Modelling architecture under the BIM workflow and Revit's working principles
- Producing documentation and checking clashes with structure and MEP
- Creating architectural families and team worksharing
- Available as classroom or online Zoom classes
2. Revit Structure — structural delivery
- Building the structural model on top of the architectural scheme
- Producing 2D drawings from the model to company presentation standards
- Quantity take-off and data links to Etabs and Navisworks
- Developing a structural family library to company conventions
3. Revit MEP — building services
- Designing electrical, HVAC, plumbing and fire-protection systems
- Controlling clashes between services, architecture and structure
- Quantity take-off, engineering calculations and whole-model coordination
4. Family creation in Revit
- Mastering the System, Component and In-Place family groups
- Parametric 2D and 3D families: title blocks, symbols, doors, furniture, railings
- Nested family techniques and building a company-standard library
5. Revit API programming
- Writing add-ins in C#/VB.NET with Visual Studio
- Creating Ribbon interfaces and querying model objects
- Automating repetitive tasks and embedding engineering calculations in Revit
6. Revit for construction
- Modelling concrete, formwork and shoring for construction methods
- Formwork families plus concrete and formwork quantity schedules
- Using Navisworks Manage for schedule simulation, clash detection and coordination reports
Learning format
Revit courses open regularly in three formats: classroom classes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, live online classes on Zoom for learners nationwide with direct teaching and homework review, and contract classes held at company premises. Most classes run in the evening, and practice work is drawn from real building projects.
